Making Nature Sacred2-Rebecca Culbreth

"Perhaps this is behind Thoreau's dictum: In wilderness is the salvation of the world. Perhaps this is the hidden meaning in the howl of the wolf, long known among the mountains, but seldom perceived among men." p. 59

This quote struck a cord with me; the first thing I thought of when I read it was how people often say that the cure for cancer isin the rainforest but we'll never be able to get it because we're chopping it down. How ironic: we are destroying the thing that could save so many lives. Have we tampered too much with the world? Maybe everything was put here the way it was meant to be. Have we screwed it up? We have definitely done out fair shaire of damage to the world. When there was nothing but pure wilderness, was there global warming? Were all of our water ways polluted? These problems are ones that we created for ourselves. Maybe nature knows something that we don't. Maybe it's trying to tell us something (the wolf). We would probably better off if wewould listen a little bit more.
