Kelly's Knob

Luckily over Thanksgiving break we had one nice day. The first day back me and two friends went up to hike a different part of the AT near giles co. called Kelly’s Knob. The first 30 minutes were straight up the back of a mountain and very rigorous but after that it leveled out as we headed across the ridge. The hike was rather short and we rested when we reached the knob that overlooked the Blue Ridge Mountains. It was nice because way off in the distance the mountains were actually blue showing why they had that name. After a short rest we explored off to the right where the huge boulders, rocks, and cave seemed to continue on forever. It was spiritual because it was just us and nobody else was up there. Wandering around not on any real path is fun because you lose a sense of direction and you are not controlled which way to go. The possibilities are endless and you really connect with the land by just exploring around and seeing what it has to offer.
