"The wilderness is yet a fitting place to speak of God."
The wilderness is a fitting place to speak of God, speak to God, and see God. In the wilderness, you are surrounded by all of God's creation. Nothing around you is man made or controlled by man. The wilderness is solely God's work and what better way to be close to Him than to be surrounded by that. This quote explains a lot about religious groups finding their way to the wilderness. For example, children's summer camps take place in the woods, and churched and small groups often take retreats to the woods. The wilderness is an escape from the way of life we have made for ourselves. When you cut things back to the basics, your vision is no longer blurred by technology and inventions and excessive things. When you only have around you what you need to survive, you are more thankful for what you have on a day to day basis, and you can easily see the important things.
