I must admit, I quite enjoyed Lanes story of traveling around the Mt. Rainer landscape. Not sure exactly why, but I didn't mind it in the least bit and found it entertaining. However, when he went off in to the forest and started to hear the stuff beneath the ground, I could almost picture some weird horror movie. Kind of like the Evil Dead series, when the plant vies sprang up from the ground and pulled the people into the dark forest never to be seen again. The way he explained the gushing of water, the way the trees moved and sounded, yes, something big was going on here. At this point I expect something to happen to Lane, perhaps this time Mother Nature shall show her true colors. I was expecting a huge tress to snatch up Lane in one giant scoop and devour him, or perhaps vines shoot up from the ground and impale him. Somehow or another Mother Nature was going to gush out from the ground and bring demise to the author.
However, none of this happened and instead he went around blessing the little baby trees so they may grow big and strong like the other trees....... what a bummer.
