Noland Trail- Rebecca Culbreth

Who knew that just five minutes from this campus, and the hustle and bustle of Warwick, is such an incredible sanctuary. The first thing I noticed at the Noland Trail was the sun setting over the water... the flickering light was so relaxing. It felt so good to be in such a natural and beautiful setting. It was so interesting to mewhen Dr. Redick pointed out the stick that had apparently fallen to the ground but was somehow in the middle of a grassy area. I never would have thought twice about it. But he asked us to contemplate the many ways it could have gotten there, whether a human or animal brought it there, or a strong gust of wind had carried it from its tree. Because of this, as I continued to walk through the woods, I tried to notice more things like that. I tried to notice the way things were located around me, and I tried to think about how the placement of each affected the environment. It was so nice to be able to leave the brick sidewalks and noise of construction to put my feet in the dirt and listen to the silence of nature.
