Topos and Chora at CNU- Erika Sikon

Topos and Chora are two words that describe the relationship one has with a particular place. Topos is just a normal place. According to its inventor Aristotle, topos is to be a point no different from any other point. It is a “I am here” type of thing. It is just a place. Chora is a connective place. Chora has its own energy and power. Plato the inventor of Chora says chora should resonate to the immediacies of human experience. Most CNU classrooms hold topos. They are all about the same. Yes, sometimes when there is life inside the place holds energy, but the place itself is a place of topos. They are nothing special. A resident hall room, apartment or place of residence on campus has chora. Each place is different and has a personality. Each place has its own dance and song. No two places of dwelling look the same when there is a life inside it. Even when people are not dwelling inside, the place has the power of chora.
