Making Nature Sacred3 - Spencer Beeson

In the third chapter Gatta compares the ways Leopold and Edwards both view ecology. Although they both end up with the same conclusion about ecology I have to agree with Leopold more than Edwards. In Leopold’s example he views the mountain as an objective participant along with the trees and animals. I agree with him in that ecology has intrinsic value and humans need to take into account the other animals and plants that we share the earth with. I like to think that the environment works the way it does to keep everything in balance, and to deceive from that is bad for the environment as a whole. Edwards says that the world works the way it does because God made it to work in a natural and spiritual way. I’m not sure if I can agree with him on that, the environment does work in a perfect way but is it God? I’m not sure if I can make that leap yet?
