Landscapes of the Sacred-Chelsea Gilbert

"What is perhaps the most important lesson in his or her entire religious life: that a spiritual reality is conjoined with, and stands behind, the physical reality." (Lane 71) I think this quote is saying that we have to not only have the religious beliefs but in a true spiritual life, we have to live it as well. You can't just say im a religious person but not show it through your actions or choices you make. Also, a mask should not be put on at some times and then taken off during others. You should not just pick or choose when you decide to show others your beliefs. This way others will know how you stand and you can find people with similar beliefs. It is important that both spiritual and physical reality are present in someone's life. And it is important that the balance between the two is stable.
